Electronic Arts just bought game developer Glu Mobile for $2.4 Billion

Electronic Arts (EA), one of the world’s largest game publishing companies, has just bought mobile game developer, Glu Mobile for $2.4 billion.

EA is best known for publishing world renown games such as Fifa, Apex Legends, Command & Conquer, and many more.

Tencent-backed Glu Mobile is based in San Francisco, and produces mobile games such as Disney Sorcerer’s ArenaWWE UniverseDiner Dash, and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

The Glu Mobile acquisition marks a significant push by EA to dominate the mobile gaming space, a space it believes to be the “Fastest-growing platform on the planet”.

EA expects the acquisition deal to close by June.

“We did this deal because we believe mobile is the fastest-growing platform on the planet” for videogames. The combination of these two companies creates a market leader in lifestyle and sports.”
