Genshin Impact’s creator, MiHoYo, has had a very profitable year.
The company made almost $800 million in revenue ($774 million to be exact) in 2020, more than doubling the previous year’s revenue.
A large part of MiHoYo’s success can be attributed to Genshin Impact’s popularity, having close to 40 million players as of February 2021 and still rising.
Last year, Genshin Impact hit headlines for having the biggest ever international launch for a China-made game.
Data firm Sensor Tower estimated that Genshin Impact drew in $400 million in revenue for the first 2 months it was on the App/Play Stores.
