North Esports Closed Down

North, a Danish esports organization, has closed down

North, a Danish esports organization that focuses on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO), has just closed down.

The organization, which was a collaboration between Praken Sports & Entertainment and Nordisk Film North, reportedly ran out of money, and failed to find additional investors to fund their operations.

North is best known having some of the top CS: GO players such Emil “Magisk” Reif, a three-time major winner, and Markus “Kjaerbye Kjærbye, who won the DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018 tournament.

Because of North’s closure, several of their team members have now been dumped into the free agent pool.

“We are obviously sad that the Danish-based esports company, North, which has had a great impact on international esports, will have to close… We have attempted to search the market to get one or more co-investors on board, but sadly haven’t found the right match”

Lars Bo Jeppesen, chairman of North and director of Parken Sport & Entertainment, said in a statement.
