The famous Japanese pet “egg watch”, which became globally renown during the late 1990s, will now feature the iconic R2-D2 droid from the Star Wars movies.
Users can help R2-D2 learn 19 different skills and interact with other Star Wars characters including Yoda, C-3PO, and Boba Fett.
The Tamagotchi (“Egg Watch” in Japanese) is a handheld digital pet that was created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi of WiZ and Aki Maita from Bandai.
Unlike the other pets in Tamagotchi where the owner is required to feed them regularly, R2-D2 will need regular cleaning and charging instead.
The Star Wars Tamagotchi will go on sale on Saturday November 13, with a retail price of ¥2,530 (US$23).
However, Tamagotchi has yet to announce how to purchase one, so stay tuned for future updates.
