Singapore is about to have a brand new Mobile Legends championship, and it will be hosted by the country’s leading telco network – Singtel.
The new championship, also known as the MLBB Professional League (MPL SG), will have a prize pool of up to $100,000, presented by Moonton.
Qualifiers for MPL Singapore are scheduled to take place in March, and 8 teams will be selected to participate in the play-offs in April and May.
MPL SG winners will then advance to Moonton’s regional and global MLBB tournaments, such as last month’s M2 World Championship, which spotted a $300,000 prize pool.

The launch of MPL Singapore also means that the tournament will focus on showcasing the top MLBB teams from Singapore only, as prior to this, MPL included teams from Malaysia as well.
While the news came with mixed reactions, a majority of Singapore-based esports players were favorable to the new change — some adding that a separate tournament would be “good for the local esports scene”.
“It actually showcases the growth of our local e-sports scene in the past few years. With Mobile Legends taking the first step of having its own independent league in Singapore, hopefully other games will follow suit.”

Registration for MPL closes on Feb 21st, and interested players can apply via the official website.
