Tencent is one of the biggest companies that owns popular Mobile Gaming titles such as PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Call of Duty and Riot Games which owns League of Legends.
The company have also recently caught the public’s attention with their plans to build their own handheld gaming console that is similar to the Nintendo Switch.
According to sources, the company has just been granted a patent for the handheld game console design on 19 March.
It was filed in October last year under the publication number CN306392452S and from the list below, one of the keywords says it’s a “portable handheld device”. The design images also showed up which looks a lot like a “fatter” version of the Switch.

If one looks closely at the fat Switch patent design image, a noticeable Windows 10 logo is visible on the left side of it.
Judging from the images, it is quite likely that the device will be compatible with PC games or perhaps allowing console games to be played on the PC.
Tencent also has another design that looks much thinner and supports Type C port charging.

This move makes a lot of sense for Tencent, considering the company is already one of the largest game developers in the world.
It would be really interesting to see how Tencent would enter the console gaming market with this new device, but chances are many of their existing games may be ported to it.
